Racing NSW enforces strict equine welfare and minimum standards policies across the state to ensure thoroughbreds receive the utmost care from birth to retirement and beyond.
Racing NSW operates a world-leading program under the banner of Team Thoroughbred NSW that focuses predominantly on retired racehorses. If a suitable home cannot be found when they retire from racing, eligible NSW thoroughbreds may be surrendered to one of Racing NSW’s farms to be retrained and rehomed.
The Illawarra Turf Club sponsors two riders each year for Equimillion, a competition exclusively for retired racehorses with $1million prizemoney across four disciplines:

*Show jumping
*Eventing
*Showing
